Date: 8th January 2026
Location: Pangbourne, Berkshire
Vehicle: Audi A6
Service: Emergency flat battery diagnosis and replacement
The Situation
An Audi A6 owner in Pangbourne was unable to start her vehicle early one morning. The client was covered by Audi Assist, but due to adverse weather conditions, high call volumes, and the fact that the vehicle was safely parked at her home address, they were unable to prioritise the callout.
The issue was time-critical. The customer is a lead supervisor within air cabin crew and needed to reach Heathrow Airport on time for a long-haul rostered flight. Waiting several hours for roadside assistance was not an option.
The Response
The customer contacted us while we were finishing a job with another client in Theale. Because of our location and availability, we were able to reach her address within 15 minutes.
A fast response was essential to avoid disruption to her shift and airline schedule.
Diagnosis
Once on site, our technician carried out a full battery assessment. The vehicle had not been driven since before Christmas, which meant the battery had slowly discharged while parked.
Our technician identified a likely case of parasitic drain, where a control module fails to fully shut down when the vehicle is switched off, continuing to draw power even when the car is not in use. This can flatten a battery over time, especially during colder winter conditions.
The Solution
We supplied and fitted a new premium replacement battery on site and ensured it was correctly coded to the vehicle, which is essential for modern Audi electrical systems to function properly and to prevent further charging or management issues.
The vehicle was tested to confirm stable voltage, correct charging behaviour, and reliable starting performance.
The Outcome
- Rapid arrival within 15 minutes
- Accurate on-site diagnosis
- Premium battery supplied and fitted
- The battery is correctly coded to the vehicle
- Customer can leave on time for Heathrow
- No disruption to work schedule or travel plans
The customer was able to depart with confidence and reach the airport without unnecessary stress or delay.
Key Takeaway
Modern vehicles rely heavily on complex electrical systems, and battery issues can develop quietly when a car is left unused for extended periods — particularly during winter. Fast diagnosis, correct battery specification, and proper coding are essential to avoid repeat failures.
Quick response times can make a critical difference when timing matters.
